As students grow accustom to performing for an audience, they gain confidence in their skills as a musician.

Recital

Shirley and her students at a recent annual recital

Annual Summer Recital. Once a year, in June, Shirley organizes a piano recital. Students prepare a more substantial piece that highlights the advancements they’ve made over the course of the year. All of Shirley’s students perform. The sense of accomplishment created by performing a more challenging piece in front of a larger audience in a more formal setting is significant. Upon completing recital, students are awarded with a Certificate of Achievement.

Annual Christmas Recital. Each year near Christmas, Shirley arranges a popular recital at a local retirement facility. The students have a great time learning and performing popular Christmas songs for a highly appreciative audience.

Computer Labs. Students today have the benefit of great music software that teaches numerous aspects of music theory, sight reading and ear training. Shirley maintains a wide array of educational software and ensures each of her students has the opportunity to spend time using the software each week.
